Supporting the ‘Freedom City’ Presidential Initiative
“Past generations of Americans pursued big dreams and daring projects that once seemed absolutely impossible. They pushed across an unsettled continent and built new cities in the wild frontier. They transformed American life with the Interstate Highway System – magnificent it was – and they launched a vast network of satellites into orbit all around the Earth. But today, our country has lost its boldness. Under my leadership we will get it back in a very big way. … Our objective will be a quantum leap in the American standard of living. That’s what will happen.”
Donald J. Trump
President-Elect of the United States of America

The Frontier Foundation advances policy through three critical pathways
Special Economic Zones
Special economic zones provide the essential legal and regulatory framework needed to streamline complex multi-agency approvals, offer targeted tax and investment incentives, establish specialized governance structures, and create jurisdictional flexibility that allows these cities to operate under optimized regulations
Industrial Innovation
Creating purpose-built environments where multiple advanced industries can operate under streamlined regulations, share specialized infrastructure, and benefit from concentrated talent pools and capital resources, while maintaining critical security and safety standards.
Federal Land Use
Federal land utilization is essential for new specialized cities because it enables large-scale, contiguous development without complex land acquisition processes, provides existing security infrastructure, offers streamlined environmental and regulatory reviews through single-agency oversight, and allows for strategic positioning near critical resources and transportation networks
Our Team
Our team brings together distinguished domain experts, accomplished policy architects, industry leaders, and pioneers in urban development who share a vision of establishing next-generation cities that will secure America's technological leadership and industrial competitiveness.

Nuclear and Data Centers
AI computing demands grow exponentially. For data centers, these zones would tackle major obstacles around massive power requirements, streamlined security protocols for critical infrastructure, and the need to maintain US competitive advantage against nations like China that are creating dedicated data center clusters. With AI systems requiring unprecedented computing power and energy consumption - with some estimates suggesting AI could consume as much electricity as a small nation by 2027 - the combination of nuclear power and advanced data centers becomes crucial for sustainable AI development.

Advanced Manufacturing and Biotech
There is pressing need to reshore critical supply chains, develop automated factories, and accelerate the deployment of technologies like 3D printing, robotics, and smart manufacturing systems. With global competitors heavily subsidizing their manufacturing sectors, these zones could provide the regulatory flexibility and infrastructure needed to rapidly scale new production methods and advanced materials development.

Defense and Space
There is an urgent need to modernize the defense industrial base, accelerate prototype development, and strengthen domestic supply chains for critical systems - from hypersonics to advanced electronics. With near-peer competitors rapidly developing new military technologies, these zones could provide the secure facilities and streamlined acquisition processes needed to rapidly test and deploy next-generation defense systems.
